Treasures Of The Middle Ages 14 January 2014

Exhibition Launch 12.30, 18th January at the Tower Museum

Derry City Councils Heritage and Museum Service will play host to the travelling exhibition– ‘Treasures of the Middle Ages – Archaeological finds from Poland’ which will open in the Tower Museum on the 18th January 2014.

The objects in this exhibition are the most valuable items from the collections of the State Archaeological Museum in Warsaw. The artefacts display a variety of styles and types of jewellery in use in the early Middle Ages from simple items made from bronze to more decorated items in silver and gold.

The exquisite items shown are unique and historic pieces which display the great artistic skills of early medieval Polish craftsmen.

The exhibition has been brought to the city in partnership between Derry City Council’s Heritage and Museum Service, museum colleagues in Poland and with the support of Down County Museum, Mid Antrim Museum and Coleraine Borough Council.
