    MAG seeks new members… 8 November 2013

Minister Carál Ní Chuilín is seeking to appoint eight new Members to the Ministerial Advisory Group (MAG) for Architecture and the Built Environment

The Minister said: “This is an excellent opportunity for suitably qualified individuals to use their experience and skills to become design champions and to further the good work already taken by the Ministerial Advisory Group in improving the built environment around us. I hope that there is a high level of interest from those who wish to create an attractive, healthy, safe and sustainable built environment which contributes to neighbourhood renewal and economic growth while promoting equality and tackling poverty and social exclusion.”

Minister Ní Chuilín is encouraging ethnic minorities, people with disabilities and women to apply. She said: “I would also encourage members of ethnic minorities, people with a disability and women to apply for this position so that membership of the MAG is representative of our diverse society.”

In June 2006 the Department published the ‘Architecture and the Built Environment for Northern Ireland‘ policyThis policy made provision for the creation of a Ministerial AdvisoryGroup to advise on policy implementation and to champion good design in the built environment.

All applications for appointment are considered strictly on merit. The final decision on appointments will rest with the Minister of Culture, Arts and Leisure.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 29 November 2013.
