Wales Environment Link job

Wales Environment Link are recruiting a Policy Coordinator.  Please see details below:

Salary:             £23,223 pro–rata
Position type:  Full time, maternity cover (for up to 11 months)
Location:         Baltic House, Cardiff Bay, Cardiff

Wales Environment Link (WEL) is the network for environmental and countryside Non–Governmental Organisations working in Wales.  As well as being the main co–ordinating body for the major NGOs in the environmental field in Wales we provide a range of information and facilitation services for our members.

Policy Coordinator:
Our Working Groups provide important fora for staff of WEL member organisations to discuss Welsh environmental policy. Through the work of WEL’s Working Groups, members produce joint statements to the National Assembly for Wales, the Welsh Government and other statutory bodies. At present we have Working Groups focussing on Biodiversity, Climate Change, Land Use, Marine, the Natural Environment Framework and Planning.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a good background in both coordinating and motivating groups and developing policy to gain experience working in our busy network during the maternity cover period. The ideal candidate will be personable and diligent with the tenacity to progress difficult discussions between WEL members in order to achieve mutual decisions. The post holder will work closely with the WEL groups to develop WEL statements and consultation responses in an efficient and effective manner.

As the main point of contact for our Working Group Chairs and other group members you will be a confident, self–motivated, approachable, organised and meticulous coordinator with a demonstrable enthusiasm for the work of environmental campaigning organisations.

Applications:
A full job description, person specification and job application form can be downloaded from www.waleslink.org or requested from Claudia Jaques: email: claudia@waleslink.org, tel: 01970 611621, or post: Wales Environment Link, 27 Pier Street, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, SY23 2LN.

Secondment opportunities will be considered – please contact the WEL office to discuss if this is an option.

Closing date:    6th February 2012 (09.00)
