
Institute of Technology, Sligo
The Institute of Technology, Sligo is a higher
education institution that plays a central role in the socio-economic
development of the North-West region.
The Institute provides a range of
third level programmes in Science, Engineering and Business &
Humanities through undergraduate level to Masters and PhD. A number of
apprenticeship programmes are delivered in a dedicated engineering
facility.
The Institute is accredited as a member of the European Credit Transfer
Scheme for Higher Education Awards and was awarded the Extended
European Erasmus University Charter in 2007. IT Sligo has been awarded
delegated authority by HETAC to award academic qualifications in all
subject areas up to taught Masters, and to Level 10 (PhD) in
Environment and Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering Research. The
Institute has an ambitious research programme which has delivered a
number of national firsts.
The majority of full-time programmes at IT Sligo can be accessed on
a part-time basis, and many are available in distance-learning mode. In
addition, a range of accredited lifelong learning programmes are
delivered. We have a track record and reputation for delivering
tailored programmes for industry and collaborative partnerships.
Economic development is directly supported by a range of research and
innovation services including: enterprise training; business incubation
space; mentoring and networking; applied research and access to
expertise, knowledge and equipment.
IT Sligo has a community of almost 500 staff and 4600 students. Our
campus currently extends to 70 acres with 30,000m2 of buildings.
