Training for Members

Wednesday 22nd February 2012

Effective lobbying and campaigning for community groups

Is there an important issue that your community group is keen to raise or challenge? This training will provide a background on what influences and shapes Government policies in NI and how you might lobby relevant people on a particular issue. It will also give practical guidance on how to prepare and manage effective campaigns.

Thursday 8th March 2012

Promoting your community group

Raising the profile of your community group has many benefits in terms of sharing what your group does, enhancing support for your work from within the community and potentially encouraging more members to join. This training will explore the importance of developing key messages for your group. It will also provide practical guidance on how you can be effective in using traditional media (e.g. press) and social media (e.g. Facebook) in publicising your group.

Thursday 22nd March 2012

Getting the best from your committee

An effective management committee is extremely important for any group. This training will provide practical guidance and support on how to review the effectiveness of your current committee. It will give advice on the responsibilities of officers, alongside providing assistance on how you can make best use of your committee and how to run more effective meetings.

Please note that all training is at RCN offices, Cookstown, and will be from 7pm to 9.30pm. Contact Sarah at the office or email sarah@ruralcommunitynetwork.org to book your place.
